Contemporary Theater Series: “WAREWARE NO MOROMORO” concept and directed by Hideto Iwai

A Japanese-French collaboration by Hideto Iwai and Centre dramatique national Théâtre de Gennevilliers will be staged at Festival d’Automne à Paris. Iwai will be working with a French theater group for the first time, as he interviews people living in Gennevilliers!

Daniel Jeanneteau, the new artistic director of Centre dramatique national Théâtre de Gennevilliers, offered leading Japanese playwright/director Hideto Iwai (leader of Hi-Bye theater company), the opportunity to co-produce a new piece to be released in autumn 2018. Iwai, who was a recluse from age 16 to 20, featuresfree and witty expressions with a beautiful and vibrant touch to portray the widely diverse modern society and its people.
The new piece dramatizes the personal lives of the performers, both professional and amateur. Leading up to the stage performance in autumn 2018, Iwai will make multiple visits to Gennevilliers to hold workshops and rehearsals with residents and actors to create the script based on their unique life experiences. Don’t miss Iwai’s first Japanese-French co-production.
