A large-scale exhibition by art collective teamLab – a team of ultratechnologists who are receiving remarkable attention in Japan and abroad for their immersive exhibitions around the world.
This large-scale exhibition is created by art collective teamLab, world-renowned ultratechnologists working under the concept of collective creation across the boundaries of art, science, technology and creativity. One of their exhibitions was chosen by CNN as one of the most visually inspiring moments.
Featured works include a virtual waterfall of a height of 11 meters that extends beyond the wall onto the floor, flowing throughout the exhibition space and splitting around visitors’ feet, as well as an interactive ecosystem filled with the living colorful animals drawn by the visitors.
The exhibition explores the role of digital technology in transcending the physical and conceptual boundaries that exist between different artworks, aiming to pursue a new relationship that transcends the boundaries between people, and between people and the world.
The exhibition opened ahead of other Japonismes 2018 events.

People move freely, form connections and relationships with others, and recognize the world through their bodies. The body has a concept of time. In the mind the boundaries between different thoughts are ambiguous, causing them to influence and sometimes intermingle with each other.
Artworks too can move freely, form connections and relationships with people, and have the same concept of time as the human body. While the artworks remain autonomous, they transcend the boundaries between the works, influence and sometimes intermingle with each other. This is one borderless world created by a group of such works.
People lose themselves in the artwork world. The borderless works transform according to the presence of people. As we immerse and meld ourselves into this unified world, we explore a new relationship that transcends the boundaries between people, and between people and the world.
